The Poco F1 packs a dual camera unit at the back — A 12MP IMX 363 sensor with a lens of f/1.8 aperture and a pixel pitch of 1.4um. This is coupled with a 5MP sensor that is only used to capture depth information.

Up front is a 20MP sensor that relies on pixel binning to deliver clearer photos with more details with lesser noise under low light. It’s the same setup you find on the company’s flagship Mi 8 and Poco claims it used the Mi 8’s algorithms to optimise the F1’s camera.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro sports Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and the back and the launch presentation demonstrated how the phone can crack walnuts and tumble down stairs without much of a scratch.

The only major downside to the Redmi Note 7 pro is you get ads served right into the UI.

With a 48MP camera, Snapdragon 675 and new gradient colours, there’s little to criticise about the Redmi Note 7 Pro. It not only brings a new design into the mix but also offers good gaming performance.

The camera is one that makes it worth the buy, especially the default 12MP mode which can generate excellent detail and good dynamic range. It is the best mid-range phone to buy right now. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 has topped most of the benchmark scores in the mid-range segment.

It’s also specially optimized for gaming with additional features like network booster, frame rate booster and the likes. The phone also didn’t slow down for the days we used it for the review and the UI transitions and icons look much better than before.

The Samsung Galaxy M30 is part of the company’s revamped efforts to make it’s mid-range phones more exciting.

The Galaxy M30 is also one of the few mid-range phones to offer a wide-angle camera. The wide-angle offers a different view of the world and while it’s quality is not as good as the wide-angle lens on the Galaxy S10, but it does let you experiment with different frames.

The Galaxy M30 is also notable for offering a big battery and a bright AMOLED display with minimal distractions. It lasted well over a day during our review process and we believe this is a good device for watching videos while commuting.

As for performance, the Galaxy M30 gives competition to the Redmi Note 7 Pro with good single-core performance. It also lasts longer than the most mid-rangers with a well optimized 5000mAh battery.

The Mi A2 is the successor of the Mi A1 and comes with a Snapdragon 660 SoC under the hood. It has a slim profile, a tall 18:9 display and one of the best in class cameras at that price.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 is praised for the camera performance particularly. Back when mid-range phones still struggled with offering good lowlight photos.

The fact that it also offer stock Android along with timely Android updates, makes the Xiaomi Mi A2 the best mobile under Rs. 20,000 if you are looking for stock/pure Android experience.

The dual camera stack of the Mi A2 is capable of producing stunning photos in the day and far more detailed shots in low-light than most of its rivals.

With Android One certification and Snapdragon 660, the phone’s performance is also top-notch and no, it doesn’t come with a notch. The Mi A2’s only downside is a poor battery life owing to a 3,000mAh battery.

Design wise, the Mi A2 looks quite slim and sturdy. It has a metal body with the display reinforced with Gorilla Glass. It lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack which is a bummer.

Only, the Note 7S uses Samsung’s 48MP sensor that also outputs images in 12MP resolution by default. This one also has a 1/2-inch sensor. The image quality is also quite similar.

The phone is able to get good photos in ample light with high details and sharpness and good dynamic range. In low light, the proprietary night mode is quite helpful in getting good photos when the light is poor which makes it good phone to buy under 20, 000 INR.

There’s hardly any hitch while operating the phone although we observed the battery drain is higher. It also lacks fast charging.

The camera uses the stock Qualcomm app and while the photos are average, operating the camera app can be a hassle. However, the phone does come with EIS which makes recording vidoes better.

The camera also has AI scene detection and portrait mode both on the front and the back. For audio, there are two smart AMPs that improve the volume of the loudspeaker while the 6.26-inch LCD panel is bright and vibrant.

It offers a flagship Kirin 970 SoC along with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. It’s claim to fame is the fact that this debuted Huawei’s GPU Turbo which makes games run much smoother with less frame drops.

While there’s a lot that impresses, the camera, leaves one wanting more. The dual camera on the back of the phone isn’t the best in the segment, but it’s expected for a gaming-focused smartphone to compromise on the imaging.

If you are looking for Under 15k there are 2 major competitors
  • Redmi Note 7 Pro
  • Samsung Galaxy M30
Both are aimed for different people, here is comparison of both for different categories
  1. Performance - Redmi absolutely destroys M30 in performance department, RN7P's SD675 is vastly superior than M30's Exynos 7904 ….Exynos 7904 or Snapdragon 675
  2. Build- Redmi has a more premium and strong glass build using gorrila glass, while M30 has a decent looking plastic and it doesn't have gorrila glass protection. Winner- RN7P
  3. Camera- Again a category where RN7P is way ahead of M30, atleast in normal photography and video recording, RN7P is on a totally different league in most senarios and it also has 4K 30 fps video recording support which M30 lacks.
Only real advantage M30 has is its ultra wide secondary camera which is of mediocre quality but it still provides a different perspective which RN7P lacks. The front cameras in both are pretty comparable and similar.

  • Note 7 pro- MIUI is well optimised, Mi phones usually have better 3rd party support for custom ROMs and some apps. Only major problem is the ad situation, while most of them can be disabled easily, it is sad we see them at this price
  • M30– Samsung experience is kinda old and is also shipped with Android oreo in 2019, it has less ads in comparison. Android support might be a problem in future
  • Display- this is the main selling point of M30 for me, it sports a FHD+ AMOLED when compared to IPS LCD in Redmi, don't get me wrong, The LCD in Redmi is still one of the best LCD you can get, but an AMOLED is just better for most of the things, the inky blacks, better contrasts, battery saving with dark mode…AMOLED is love if you watch a lot of content on your phone or are a night mode lover.
  • Battery- M20 has a bigger 5k Mah battery and 15W charger in box, so it wins this round, while RN7P has a 4k Mah battery (tho a more efficient screen and SoC) but it ships with a 10W charger (with support of 18W charging but charger not in box, again disappointing).
